About This Site

Somatic Psychology draws from our growing understanding of the role of the environment in influencing our minds and bodies as well as in affecting risk for chronic illness. My philosophy for working with adults with chronic illness and unusual physical symptoms is based on such perspectives, which see symptoms as intelligent. Learn more about the population I work with, as well as services offered.

This website provides an introduction to somatic psychology, its history and perspectives, and mind-body concepts for understanding chronic illness. A more indepth perspective is provided in a published article.

Learn more about the role of environmental factors such as trauma and early life experiences in shaping the nervous system, and how such factors are increasingly understood to influence risk for chronic symptoms and chronic illness (see theory).
